Victoria
Kilgour
Victoria grew up in Argyll on the West coast of Scotland, where her love for nature and the outdoors flourished. After qualifying as a veterinary surgeon from Liverpool University in 1989, she worked in Equine and Small Animal practices in the West Country. During this time, she also obtained her Private Pilot’s Licence, which led to a 10-month adventure across Africa, where she combined her veterinary skills and love of exploration.
Upon returning to the UK, Victoria practiced in a Small Animal clinic specializing in racing greyhounds, gaining valuable experience in surgical trauma care. However, her deep connection to Scotland eventually drew her back, where she continued practicing in Kirkcaldy and St. Andrews.
After the birth of her first child, Victoria focused on raising her family, surrounded by dogs, horses, and various pets. Her passion for nature led to an interest in herbal medicine, particularly how horses select plants seasonally. This curiosity led her to study phytotherapy, completing a Foundation Course with the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine and a full-time professional course with Heartwood.

After finishing school, Bertie pursued formal training and became a British Horse Society-qualified instructor (BHSII). She began working freelance and gained further experience in a racing yard, which expanded her knowledge of horse care and training. Over the years, she has owned and trained numerous horses, successfully competing in eventing, showjumping, and dressage.
